Just sitting back listening to music

August 29th, 2008 · No Comments · Health, Reviews

As you may have noticed I posted A LOT for one day. Well, A LOT of important things have happened today, but right now I just got back from a very short run (mommy no like running) and some slight lifting and I am currently talking to you, kicking back and listening to Breaking Benjamin - I forget how much I really like these guys.

Green sea turtle

August 29th, 2008 · No Comments · Animals, Sports, Video

In watching this video it reminded me of the turtle encounter(s) I had in Maui. They are all over the place in Maui and if you ever dive there I wouldn’t believe you f you told me you didn’t see one. Anyway, I was doing my 3 minute safety stop when a turtle came hanging around. He came right up to me, I mean right in front of me, stopped and just looked at me and wouldn’t leave. I avoided touching him at all cost (which is more than I can say for some other asshole on the dive). Seem surprising, yeah, maybe, but I knew what he wanted. See, before we dove the dive master hooked us up to the mooring and said a turtle was scratching himself on the mooring line. So when I was doing my three minute safety stop I was in his way of scratching himself. Was I privileged for the encounter, maybe, was I special as in the turtle loved me, no; I was just in his way. It was still cool though.

It’s almost 100MB file and youtube is still processing as I posted this, so if the video doesn’t work, come back soon.

Is it time?

August 29th, 2008 · No Comments · Politics

Is this the year where change has truly come? The time where that old codger generation is out and the new, younger generation is in?  The generation that may actually be able to fulfill their political promises? By the grace of God I hope so.

Really, could this be it he time of real change?  How much can one man change? It may surprise you how much one person can change or affect an environment. I do think we have a lot of work to do - domestically we are a mess, internationally we are not respected.

I will admit I just watched Barack’s speech from last night. Yeah, it is always supposed to be a rah rah feel good time, but I will admit that I am welling up at the prospect of true change.

The more time goes on the more I am respecting Obama and the less respect I have for McCain. I will give McCain equal time and do my best to keep unbiased; after all I am a registered republican.

I guess it comes down to the fact that I can relate more to Obama and I think a lot of Americans can relate more to Obama than to McCain for the sheer fact of what the Obamas have been through. I just hope, hope with all of my heart, that Americans will look beyond race once and for all. Can you imagine the respect we will gain worldwide if Obama was our president? Equally, think about the future if McCain was our president. I truly believe if McCain is elected there will be a heavy sigh across the world. And the phrase “fucking Americans” will probably be uttered in many living rooms across the word.

Yes, I came from a modest background, what I have today I have earned it (not that I am rich or anything, but I can pay my mortgage). I was not born into it, nor did I marry into it. I was a single mom, who worked her way through college while trying to raise two young girls after a failed marriage of 14 years. Do I have regrets? Hell yeah. Did I make mistakes? Hell yes. So have all of our candidates, that’s what we need to keep in mind - we are all human.

Why did he do it?

August 29th, 2008 · No Comments · Politics

Why didn’t McCain pick Linda Lingle (governor of Hawaii) or Jodi Rell (Connecticut) who are both significantly more experienced than Palin. Let me take a stab at it, um, her looks. And why would he pick somebody who is much like he is a maverick? Um, maybe because he’s losing his mind.

The thing politicians count on is American stupidity and their one issue, I can’t think beyond black, woman, democrat or republican. He picked her because she is a good looking woman who will appeal to both men and the Hillary supporters, why because people are stupid and they will vote based solely for their one reason. If they are republican they will vote a straight republican ticket, yes even if the candidate is dribbling from his mouth. How do I know? Five words - eight years of George Bush.

I saw it over and over again in the Clinton Campaign, women loved him because many thought he was good looking and I can’t tell you how many times I heard people say they voted for him because of the abortion issue.

I’m tired of McCain’s I am a POW and country first spiel. He’s living in the past in more ways than one. And country first is what HE feels is right for the country and I don’t think what he thinks is right jibes with what the majority of this country feels is right. Just watch some unedited CSPAN footage of McCain, if he doesn’t get his way he throws a fit. As Commander-in-Chief and head of this country we don’t need another buffoon in the Whitehouse representing this country.

There is more at stake than just what goes on in this country, though I think we need to pay a lot more attention to America’s needs, the president represents Americans. If you do any form of traveling abroad you will get a really good idea of how other countries feel about America and its residents (it’s not positive) and it is all a reflection of Bush.

I just can’t get over the fact that the race is so tight with Bush’s approval rating so low, McCain’s near 100% agreement/voting record with Bush, and the fact that McCain is just more of the same of the old Bush policies. Not to mention the fact that it will be status quo, another at least four years of Bush policies. OK I’ll give him a break; 90% Bush policies. I don’t think people are going to wise up until they see McCain dribbling from his mouth. Just think if he wins he will be 76 years-old at the end of his term. He is 72 today.

After the past eight years of Bush messing things up real good domestically and abroad whoever wins the election may just end up quitting after they find out the mess they’ve gotten themselves into.

Ultimately, it is a matter of picking the less of two evils and in my opinion Obama is the less evil, I believe he is a much more reasonable human being.

I have one question about Palin: Why in hell is she still having babies at 44? It is no wonder why her last kid has Down syndrome - her eggs are rotten. I mean good God her oldest is going off to the war, just a slight age difference. I mean her oldest is old enough to be the father of her youngest.
