This whole running thing

So I started running even though I said running can kill you and to a degree I have proven my point. Before I even hit 100 miles after a month of jogging I developed iliotibial band syndrome on my left side The iliotibial band is a tendon that runs from the hip to the knee and will stop you in your tracks when it kicks in.  If you ever wondered what that thing was on the outside of the back of your knee that is the iliotibial  band. I remedied this by getting a band to wrap around the upper part of my knee when I run. No sooner had I remedied this did I develop tendonitis. Though I did not know it was tendonitis a month ago. I continued to run with pain in my right ankle. Since a month had passed I figured I had better go to my doctor to have it looked at. Diagnosis, tendonitis. 3 days before I went to the doctor I stopped running. This was yesterday. Today it was almost to the point where it didn’t even hurt, so I decided I was going to walk. Turns out that was a bad idea, my friggin’ ankle started killing me. I have decided I am not going to do anything until this Friday or Saturday.

I will tell you that so far I have lost no weight, but there has been a change in my body. My legs are bigger, I guess that’s about it, well OK, there’s less fat in my legs mostly. This gut is going to be the death of me, and I know running will get rid of it. I know my biggest mistake is over training and that is the reason for both of my ailments.

I know I haven’t a clue when it comes to running. I have been using Nike+ and was doing the 10K prep, essentially 12 weeks preparing for a little over 6 miles. No big deal I figured.  What a dumb ass I am. Self admittedly a non-runner and little exercise before I started my expectations where far too high, hence dumb ass. I figure I have to do something, I mean after all I don’t want to turn into somebody who weighs 200 pounds and be one of those people who I make fun of constantly. You know, at what point do you look in the mirror and say to yourself that you are too fat? For me it is almost 130 pounds. I want my rockin’ body back.

Is it just me or is Obama going gray? It’s like in the last two weeks the whole side of his head has gone gray.

CNN

As I watched the debate last night I saw more of the same, Obama doing his best to stick to the issues and McCain going negative and not being factual. It is very irritating and McCain deserves to lose. Many Americans are in dire straits and need answers not bickering from the candidates. McCain is a clueless asshole.

After the debate I watched the CNN aftermath. They are going on and on how well McCain did and how he won, that is until they started polling the public, that’s when the backpedaling began. You can go to just about any news or political Web site or blog and can clearly see that McCain is not popular and never will be, he is simply too far gone.

Some CNN headlines from this morning:

McCain to Obama: I’m not Bush - Who gives a shit? We know you’re not and never said you were, but you are no better and will very likely be a worse president than Bush if that is feasibly possible.

Analysis: McCain turns up heat on Obama - How, by attacking Obama on old news and things that have already been proven inaccurate?

What I find amazing is that CNN analysts actually thinks one debate will turn it around for McCain and that it will turn peoples’ opinion around. McCain just forced Obama to repeat things he’s already responded to. And who cares if McCain finally said he’s not Bush it is idiotic to even mention it, but to have it as the main headline of your news site is grasping.

Palin’s, evil looking, 6 year old giving a little boy the finger while Grandma looks on oblivious. All I know when I was six I didn’t know what the middle finger was.

Energy jar

» by Tupto

We instituted a swear jar about a year ago and used the money for our vacation. Since we returned from our vacation the swear jar isn’t going as well as it was before the vacation for a couple of reasons. One, we just don’t swear as much and two, we just aren’t as dedicated to it as we were before the vacation.

I realize that you have to have some type of goal to keep things up, and this can be said for about anything.  I realized one reason why I am been keeping up with running is Nike + and the 10K training program sets the running goals.

Anyway, I had an idea about how to change the energy use habits of my daughter and husband and that is to institute an energy jar. Daughter has a very bad habit of leaving lights on and using the wrinkle guard on the dryer overnight. Husband has a bad habit of starting a half empty dishwasher, so I figured their energy indiscretions should cost them.

Leaving a light on = $1
Starting the dishwasher half empty = $3
Leaving the wrinkle guard on = $5
Leaving the refrigerator door open = $1
Leaving an outside door open = $1

Not sure what we’ll use the money for this time, but our energy bills are too high, so I am trying to figure ways to curb waste and one thing I noticed about our new washer is that it washes the clothes forever, so since we don’t roll around in the mud I figured I could lower the soil level so it doesn’t wash for an hour.
